AI transparency: AI Generated

This site uses simple, cookieless analytics so I can see how many people visit, which pages they read and for how long. It does not use advertising, and it does not follow you around the web.

What is measured

For each page view, the analytics service records:

  • the page visited and the page you came from (for example a search engine or LinkedIn)
  • how long you spent on the page
  • your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language
  • your country, worked out from your IP address

What is not

  • No cookies are set, and nothing is stored in your browser.
  • Your IP address is not saved. It is used to work out your country and then discarded.
  • You are not given a profile or an ID that follows you between visits or between sites, and no names or email addresses are collected.
  • Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.

Because there are no cookies and no personal profiles, there is no cookie banner. If that ever changes, a banner will appear first and this page will be updated.

Who processes it

Analytics is provided by Umami, acting on my behalf. Their privacy policy explains how they handle data. I use the figures to understand which pages are useful, and the legal basis is my legitimate interest in running and improving this site.

Opting out

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, nothing is recorded. Content blockers that block analytics also work.

Your rights and contact

Under UK data protection law you can ask what is held about you, or ask for it to be deleted. As the figures cannot be tied back to an individual, there is usually nothing to find, but you are welcome to ask. Message me on LinkedIn. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Other sites linked from here, such as LinkedIn, have their own privacy policies.
